Ebola is more than a health issue. It has broad implications for all of the communities it touches. As a network of grantmakers who care about Africa we urge all funders to support African communities at all levels.
As part of our efforts to promote effective, robust and responsive philanthropy benefitting African communities the Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group is organizing a series of conference calls to call attention to the short and long term impact of Ebola on Africa and its people.
The purpose of this series is to:
- highlight the presence of trusted local organizations who, in many cases, have refocused their work to address local community needs
- provide a forum for funders and individual donors to share information on how they are responding to the Ebola crisis
- identify ways that we can encourage more immediate support for both short-term and long term challenges
